Okay. So maybe this wasn't really the place she should be at 12 in the morning. However, when one couldn't sleep, there was no point in lying in a dormitory listening to roommates snore the night away. Restlessness made sleep elude her, despite her weariness. She'd been left with no choice but to admit her defeat, and did the first thing that popped into her head; go to the kitchens. She had left in her nightgown; no one would be up at this hour, anyway, she thought. Her arrival at the kitchens had been greeted with a scramble to make fresh cookies and to get her a drink, on the house elves' part of course.
She hadn't stumbled across the kitchens on her own; a third year had spilled the beans after being caught sneaking out of the kitchens back in her prefect days. The thought alone was enough to draw her gaze away from the wall to the badge sitting on the table before her. It shone at her from beside her plate of cookies, almost mockingly. Rosemarie groaned and pushed the plate away; suddenly, she had lost her appetite.
A house elf scurried forward and took the plate from the table. The squeaking voices of house elves drifted across the room, arguing over who had 'angered the young miss'. Rosemarie ignored it at first, staring sullenly at the Head Girl badge on the tabletop. However, the sound of punishments being dealt out was enough to capture her attention, and she immediately set off to stop the house elves before they injured themselves.
After the tiring task of keeping the house elves from giving themselves concussions with the large pans in the kitchens was done, Rosemarie retreated back to her seat at the table. She glanced gloomily at her badge once more. The position was not what was bothering her most. Rather, it was who had been appointed Head Boy. The Malfoy boy; an active Death Eater, no less!
She was quite sure she was going to die before her seventeenth birthday, much less graduation from Hogwarts.
